Frequently Asked Questions
What format is the recording saved in?
Recordings are saved in WebM format, which is a widely supported open video format. Most modern video players and browsers can play WebM files natively. You can convert to MP4 using a video converter if needed.
Is my recording uploaded to any server?
No. All recording and processing happens entirely in your browser using the Screen Capture API and MediaRecorder API. Your screen content never leaves your device.
Can I record with microphone audio?
Yes. Select "Screen + Microphone audio" from the audio source dropdown before starting the recording. Your browser will ask for permission to access your microphone.
Which browsers support this tool?
This tool works in modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave) and Firefox. Safari has limited support for the Screen Capture API. For best results, use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Is there a time limit on recordings?
There is no artificial time limit set by this tool. However, very long recordings will use more memory in your browser. For recordings over 30 minutes, ensure you have enough available RAM and disk space.
Can I pause and resume the recording?
Yes. Click the "Pause" button to temporarily stop recording and "Resume" to continue. The final video will be seamless without any gaps from the paused periods.
